As you are probably aware, a brand new Porsche doesn’t come cheap. In fact, quite the opposite with the least expensive Porsche 911 Carrera priced at £73,509 including VAT.
There can’t be many people that wouldn’t love to own such a refined sports car but, at that sort of price, the number of people that can afford one has got to be limited. So, wouldn’t it be great if you were lucky enough to be given a Porsche as a gift? Of course it would!
Well, that is just what has happened to one young lady who is certainly building herself a career as a tennis player. We are referring to Simona Halep who has been shooting up the world tennis rankings of late.
Simona, who is 23 years of age, is from Romania and only broke into the world’s top 50 women’s tennis players towards the later part of 2012. By August 2013, she featured in the top 20 and then got into the top 10 in January of this year and is currently ranked number 3 in the world of women’s tennis. She reached her first Grand Slam final losing to Maria Sharapova at this year’s French Open.
Anyway, you will no doubt be green with envy to read that Simona has just received a new red Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Coupe worth £78,365 including VAT from the famous car manufacturer as a gift. The vehicle has a 3.4 litre 6 cylinder 350bhp boxer engine that is capable of getting from 0 to 62mph in a mere 4.9 seconds on its way to reaching a top speed of 177mph. Not for the faint hearted. She took delivery of the car at Porsche’s Bucharest dealership.
Presumably, Porsche has been so generous in view of her rapid rise up the tennis rankings and wish their successful brand to be associated with someone that has the potential to become the number 1 women’s tennis player worldwide. Interestingly, Maria Sharapova is a Porsche Ambassador and it begs the question if Simona is going to be fulfilling a similar role in the not too distant future.
Anyway, we are sure that she will love driving her new Porsche when her busy tennis schedule allows.
